Keep Your Friends Close and Your Jettribe Gloves Closer!

When Pro rider Trey Frame requested another pair of Jettribe’s RS-15 gloves, Tony was surprised since these gloves typically last one hard riding season. Trey’s response: “The gloves are wearing good, but someone in Canada liked them so well they decided to take them. I guess they really liked your work!”

Maybe for 2012, we should put a warning label on our gloves: “These gloves are highly prone to getting snagged by others!”

Yamaha Sees 25 Podium Finishes at Belle River Stop on 2011 National PWC Racing Tour

BELLE RIVER, Ontario -- Yamaha racers invaded Belle River, Ontario on July16-17,

dominating the UWP-IJSBA Canadian Nationals with 25 podium finishes led by Macc

Racing/Riva Racing/Dean’s Team rider Chris MacClugage.

MacClugage continued his stranglehold on the Pro Runabout Stock class aboard his

Yamaha FZR. Macc has won nearly every moto in this premier class this season with just three rounds left in the season.

MacClugage wasn’t the only Yamaha FZR rider on a tear in Ontario with Jordan

McLean winning the Pro Runabout Limited class, finishing 2-1-2 for the day. McLean

has won every round this season with no signs of letting up. Joining McLean on the

podium was FZR rider Aero Aswar. Riva Racing/Dean’s Team rider Trey Frame

continued his breakout season finishing 1-2-2 in the Pro Runabout Open class aboard

his FZR for a second place finish overall.

Some of the best news from Belle River is that the Yamaha VXR looks like a lock for the

Normally Aspirated class championship in its first season of racing. Yamaha VXR riders

Cameron Frame and brother Trey Frame finished 1-2 overall. The two brothers have

been swapping wins all season long and continue to put on one of the best shows on the tour. The Yamaha VXR has won every round this season in dominating fashion.

Other notable performances include Nathan McLean who won Novice Runabout Limited

also aboard a Yamaha FZR.

Round 6 of the UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour comes to Colonial Beach, VA on

July 30-31.

Rick Sherker Dominates Pro Ski GP

Ironically, Rd.5 of the UWP/IJSBA National tour which took place across the border in Belle River, Ontario this past weekend was the closest race so far this year from me in eastern Pennsylvania.  It was a mere 600 mile trip to the beautiful beach in Belle River on Lake St. Clair.

Friday I did my testing and made adjustments in my handling setup for the one foot wind chop that was on the lake.  Of course come race day, the wind had died leaving the lake flat until practice started, which with the shallow waters quickly gave it a race chop like that of Havasu.  Temperatures and humidity also rose for the weekend making it a hot one!  It was tempting to race in shorts, but I opted to go with just the Jettribe RS15 John Race Suit, leaving the jacket behind to get the added leg protection the suit offers, which turned out to be the right choice, not compromising protection and staying cool.

Spectator turnout was one of the highest so far this year and there was no doubt the Canadians enjoyed the event and the after parties eh.  The highlight was the beer tent out on the pier which is something you probably won’t see here in the States.  Saturday evening at 10:30 the amateur freestylers put on a show right in front of the pier under the lights with Mike Young announcing and getting the crowd fired up.

In Saturday’s races, I finished second in GP Ski behind Jim Cebulski and in front of Chris MacClugage.  In Stock Spec I finished second behind Rob Flores after he grabbed the holeshot on the start but was able to push him the entire race and keep him honest.

On Sunday, in moto 2 of stock, it was a repeat of moto 1, again finishing second behind Flores.  Moto 2 of GP, Jim Cebulski grabbed the holeshot again but broke down early in the race allowing me to capitalize and take the lead followed by Rob Flores, Josh Block and Chris MacClugage finishing fourth.  After the first two motos, I needed only a 4^th place finish or better in moto 3 to secure the overall.  I had the opportunity to take the holeshot coming out of the splits with the inside line on MacClugage going into a double red out of the split, but decided to play it safe instead of possibly sending us both swimming.  This allowed Cebulski to get by into second.  I ended up winning the Canadian Nationals with a 2, 1, 3 finish.   Chris Macclugage took second with a 3, 4, 1 finish and Jim Cebulski took third with a 1, 6, 2 finish.  Finally after the third moto in stock going 2, 2, 2 being nothing if consistent, I ended up second.

UWP did a great job with the event as well as Naut-Wukin Racing and Ray of R&D Powersports. Overall it was a great weekend, leaving me looking forward to Rd. 6 in Colonial beach, Virginia!

Jettribe Dominates at Belle River

Going over the border to Belle River, Ontario this past weekend was an exciting trip. The addition of a Canadian race site to the APBA National Tour last year showed how much the US wanted to join forces with the Canadians. The continuation of this joint venture definitely did not disappoint us this year.

My dad and I rolled in at the race site early afternoon on Friday to get our campsite set up and scope things out. It was so great to see some of our friends and racing family that we haven’t seen since last summer. That afternoon I did some riding with some other racers to get a feel for the chop and then we ended the night by making a trip to the awesome beer garden, which was packed with lots of fun locals and featured a live band.

Saturday was full of hot racing action and it was anyone’s guess as to who would be the winner of each of the pro classes. Trey Frame and Dustin Farthing battled it out in Pro-Am Runabout Open. Rick Sherker, Chris MacClugage, and Yimmy Cebulski swapped top 3 positions during every moto of Pro Ski GP and it was a nail biting experience to see who would end up winning the final moto and who would win overall. But those were just a few of the classes that were highlighted over the weekend.

Saturday evening after the races were over a local restaurant owner, Mr. Bigs, invited all of the racers to his restaurant for free pizza and wings. The food was great and it was so nice to be welcomed with open arms by the locals. After we had our fill of food many of us racers ventured over to the beer garden again for a night of relaxing and cutting loose after a long day of racing.

Sunday wrapped up another great weekend of racing and the Jettribe Racing Team did very well. I finished 1^st place overall in Novice Women’s Ski Limited which made me the Canadian National Champion. Rick Sherker finished 1^st place overall in Pro Ski GP, making him the Canadian National Champion for that class, and also finished 2^nd place overall in Pro-Am Ski Stock Spec. Trey Frame finished 2^nd place overall in Pro-Am Runabout Open and 2^nd place overall in Runabout N/A Spec. Trey’s brother Cameron finished 5^th place overall in Pro-Am Runabout Stock and 1^st place overall in Runabout N/A Spec, making him the Canadian National Champion for that class. It was so great to see our team do so well!
