A Note From Kylie Ellmers

I have been flat out doing massive hours however some of that has been for myself. Over the last 3-4 years I have been building a race trailer every time I got a little money I would do a little more and I finally got it done enough to take to the Nationals 2 weeks ago (Simon came over in the last week and helped me also which made a huge difference). Still not finished but road worthy now so at least can use. It’s been a long time coming and I was more excited about that than the racing I think.

Just as well, in pro ski we started with a flying hot lap individually and I got 2 equal with Jake Barker who is the Australian top rider. We were beaten by Motz who came over to try Less’s Hydro so pretty good effort I thought. Anyway like a second before I crossed the line there was a massive and I mean massive ear piercing noise and I ground to a fast halt. As I crossed the line everybody was on the pier watching. Lucky I was real low in the tray otherwise I would have gone over the bars big. Anyway, I just put up both my hands and went yes I finished; it was funny. What else could you do and I knew it was a good lap. Got towed to shore and started pulling it out and fuel is pouring out the duck bills so quickly blocked them off.

You wouldn’t believe my new ski I got myself for X-mas with about 15hrs on it actually snapped a driveshaft on the thru hull bearing and then forced the broken piece into the fuel tank. Excellent!! We have never achieved this before not even on the open skis, let alone mine. Oh well we strive for new goals I suppose. Have known  that the bearing carrier is a weak spot so I do make sure every time the motor is out it is good and packed with grease; however, this ski has not needed the motor out. Suppose it does now though, haha. I raced a couple of different limited hydros and came forth just missed 3rd so had to be happy with that on loan skis, made me work anyway.

Take care guys
Kylie

Mercedes Benz on a Whole New Level

Recession? What recession? So, it seems that this "global recession" has not impacted negatively on everyone. Check this out! It's a Mercedes Benz owned by an Abu Dhabi

Featuring the newly developed V10 quad turbo with 1,600 horsepower and 2800nm of torque 0-100km/h in less than 2secs, 1/4 mile in 6.89 secs running on biofuel.

That is NOT stainless steel, people, it is WHITE GOLD!  I'm sure you'll sleep better tonight, knowing that the
exorbitant dollars you're paying for gas these days are at least going to a good cause...

Ft. Lauderdale SeaDoo Spring Nationals Riva Racing Challenge

IJSBA Racing returns to Ft. Lauderdale for the opening round of the Sea Doo Spring Nationals
RIVA Racing Challenge
For immediate release…
The IJSBA racing season began on April 16th at Markham Park in Ft. Lauderdale with the “RIVA Racing Challenge”, which included the first two rounds of the Sea Doo Spring Nationals presented by Hydroturf and Co-Sponsored by Blowsion, Thrust Innovations, Rick Roy Products, Champion Porsche, Mountain Motorsports, Jettribe, Exotic Signs, Wetracer Magazine, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The race site was very nice as it offered RV camping, mountain biking, pavilions, and even a gun range on site.  The weather was perfect for racing with a little overcast and even an afternoon mist of showers. The race course was tight, which made the stand-up and sport racers very happy and the runabout racers anxious!  There were a lot of fans on site and even brought out some old-schooler’s such as Dean Mays from the infamous Team Deans, and Stuart Rasmussen, former IJSBA National Champ, and legendary engine builder, Bo Dupriest. There were also a lot of the usual suspects such as Team Mean, Eric Lagopoulis, Troy Snyder and Erminio Iantosca to name a few.
Highlighting the racing in the Pro Class, beginning with the Ski Open, Cade Poole, of Destin, Florida, sponsored by Liquid Fix won the showdown on Saturday in his first Pro victory ever, however, “Spoondawg” Blaine Spooner came back on Sunday to tie up the series points with Poole.  The Pro Runabout Open Class was stacked on with a lot of talent on Saturday, and the race began with three starts, however, when the green flag did show, it was Erminio Iantosca, of Naples, Florida, going wire to wire in the first moto with the newly trim Jason Russo blasting his way into second.  Sunday was a different story in this Class as Jettribe Team Racer, Jeremy Shandlemeyer, took the top spot and Iantosca opted for a swim to cool off!  Lagopoulis took Rasmussen in the Pro 800 Class!  The Sport Spec Class was very exciting on both days with David Gorie taking the checkered on Saturday, but the biggest surprise was the youngster, Blaine Smith, 14 years old and combined with them transferred three holeshots into victories!  Other notable performances were turned in by Junior/Women’s racing standout, Shawna Sims and Expert Runabout racer, Mike Bellamy, of Monticello, Georgia, and Thrust Innovations sponsored Lucas and J-Fish Malone had outstanding Freestyle routines on both days.
Everyone had a great weekend that attended and we are happy to say that there were no injuries on the track!  Special thanks to Trevor and Michelle from Markham Park and Carol Hudson from the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Great job by the Pro Hydro-X Tour Staff!  The next race of the Sea Doo Spring Nationals is the Georgia State Championships in Macon, Georgia (Voted #1 site for racing by racers in 2000-2002) on April 30 and May 1.  Info for this event can be found at pwcfun.com.  We hope to see you there!  Mike Young

Laura Milone Builds Herself A Limited Ski

Laura raced for the past 2 seasons on this sxr without a single mod. She won a few races and had some great runs on her stock powered sxr. Mid season 2010 with the help of sxr expert and teamate, David Cabrera we worked on handling. We installed tubbies and rear sponsons then worked on the prop and nozzles and got it handling pretty well.
Laura continued to advance her skills and I promised her a true limited if she kept her grades up and continued to get better on the water. After watching her ride in the rough waters of the Daytona Freeride this past January literally riding alongside white whales I determined she was ready.
The entire team mean crew kicked in and coached Laura who was determined to build her own engine. We went completely through it including crank bearings and seals, pistons, new reeds which she installed herself, and all new gaskets. We then proceeded to rebuild the pump and the thru hull seal carrier, a new steering cable...while it was all apart... And finally we capped it all off with a factory dry pipe kit, jetting, flame arrestors, a little more prop tuning.... You all know the drill.
The final touches were some tai'd up graphics to fully represent Jettribe and Team Mean for the awesome support!!
Laura, with supervision, did 90% of the work herself, and has enjoyed the fruits of her labor for the past 3 weekends racing buoys with teammates in preparation for the Ft Lauderdale hydro x tour race #1 where she will run womens limited this time on a true limited prep sxr...   Here we go !!
