Laura raced for the past 2 seasons on this sxr without a single mod. She won a few races and had some great runs on her stock powered sxr. Mid season 2010 with the help of sxr expert and teamate, David Cabrera we worked on handling. We installed tubbies and rear sponsons then worked on the prop and nozzles and got it handling pretty well.
Laura continued to advance her skills and I promised her a true limited if she kept her grades up and continued to get better on the water. After watching her ride in the rough waters of the Daytona Freeride this past January literally riding alongside white whales I determined she was ready.
The entire team mean crew kicked in and coached Laura who was determined to build her own engine. We went completely through it including crank bearings and seals, pistons, new reeds which she installed herself, and all new gaskets. We then proceeded to rebuild the pump and the thru hull seal carrier, a new steering cable...while it was all apart... And finally we capped it all off with a factory dry pipe kit, jetting, flame arrestors, a little more prop tuning.... You all know the drill.
The final touches were some tai'd up graphics to fully represent Jettribe and Team Mean for the awesome support!!
Laura, with supervision, did 90% of the work herself, and has enjoyed the fruits of her labor for the past 3 weekends racing buoys with teammates in preparation for the Ft Lauderdale hydro x tour race #1 where she will run womens limited this time on a true limited prep sxr... Here we go !!
