Thailand King's Cup Tour!
We have heard much about the King's Cup race in Thailand for years, but have never attended until this year. When we packed our bags, we did not think much about our trip nor know what to expect .
All we knew is that Scott from Hot Products had given us a contact in Thailand "Sam" who would be taking care of us and acquring the booth space for us. We were told: "Just bring some USD to reimburst Sam for the booth space cost." We had exchanged a few emails with Sam and he assured us that we will be picked up at the airport.
We landed in Bankock, Thailand armed with some US Dollars, but most imporatnt we had our Blackberry with the international cell plan. Right away our Blackberry kicked in and we received an Email from Sam that he will be late. No worries we looked and walked around for what seemed like an eternity. But John spotted a young lady holding a small 8 1/2 " x 11" inkjet printed paper "Jettribe"! We are saved, it was "Nuk" our contact's sister! Right away we felt the coolness from our host. Since we had so many bags, they had to drive us down to the race site with two Toyota Camry's. From the airport to the race site in Pataya is about a 3 hours drive, we were all pretty anxious to get there to check out the site and get a clean shower. Please understand - being on a plane for over a day and being in the hot humid climate, you look forward to these things.
Our primary goal for this trip was purely exploritory. To our supprise and I mean total surprise, the PWC sport which we have grown up with and love in Southern California had transcended to the hearts of our fellow racers half way across the world! Even though we all came from different cultures and speak entirely different languages, we all share the same love and passion for the PWC sport! After walking around the race site we saw many familiar faces from the World Finals and we know that we are among friends and family now.
It was awesome to see our that Jettribe gear was a huge huge hit! It was very busy at our booth and we ran out of most of our product the first two days! Riders from all corners of the world - Russia, Germany, South Korea and local Thais definitely reconized great gear when they see it. We are happy to say that this trip was a complete success.
But the most important part of our trip was that we got to know Sam and his family as friends . They were more than gracious hosts and treated us like one of their family menbers! Guestures like this can only come from the true heart of good people. Business comes and goes but friendship like Sam's family will last a lifetime!
